Each holiday season, we offer unprecedented access to America’s deepest Madeira library, assembling sets of our finest Madeiras at astoundingly low prices.

But this year, to truly showcase the rich history of Madeira and its invincible cellar life, we’ve created unicorn sets in a way that no other wine in the world can be offered: by centuries and half-centuries:

Late 20th Century: 1968 to 1994
Early 20th Century:
1910 to 1932
The 19th Century:
1875 to 1899

No other retailer can offer these rare assortments, and absolutely no one could dream of matching this incredible sale: 26% to 33% less than our already low prices.

This is a fantastic opportunity for customers to build upon their collections of legendary and soon-to-vanish Madeiras. So we urge you to take advantage of it—if not for yourself, then for a dear friend or colleague.

With Madeira's unique capacity to keep forever even after opening, few gifts in wine are more memorable and lasting.

With six wines ranging from 1968 to 1994, this is a thrilling introduction to the world of old and rare Madeira. It features a Wine Spectator 96 for the 1968 Bual; a Jancis Robinson 18.5 for the 1973 Verdelho; and an Antonio Galloni 96 for the 1977 Terrantez. Another incredible highlight is the ultra-rare 1990 Malvasia Candida from Fajã dos Padres, “the most celebrated of all the vineyards in Madeira” writes Alex Liddell. The single-cask 1993 Verdelho is a gem as well, with a Grandes Escolhas 18.5.

We now dial back the clock to the great survivors of the early 20th century, starting with two 1910 Madeiras, one a Bual from Barbeito’s family stock, and the other a super-rare Malvasia Candida. The 1912 Verdelho is legendary, owning a John Gilman 98, a James Suckling 99, and a 5-star rating from Alex Liddel. Equally exciting is the 1928 Sercial, one of Neal Martin’s favorites from D’Oliveira “in the first half of the 20th century.” And how incredible is it to own not just D’Oliveira’s 1912 Verdelho, but its superb 1932 sibling as well?

We conclude with six bucket-list unicorns from the 19th century, including two of the oldest Vintage Madeiras from Barbeito’s collection, acquired by Ricardo’s grandfather in the 1940s: the 1875 Malvasia (Atkin 100) and the noble 1885 Verdelho (Tanzer 95). These are followed by D’Oliveira’s 1890 Verdelho (Martin 96), 1895 Malvasia (Hersh 96), and 1899 Terrantez (Galloni 100). Not to be forgotten is the 1895 Araújo Malvasia. As Jamie Goode aptly described it earlier this year, it is “Madeira at its most exquisite and complex.”
