Among the thousands of men and women making Champagne today, few are legitimate superstars.
One is Raphaël Bérêche. Another is a man the general public has never heard of: James Darsonville, who, behind the scenes, has lent his winemaking prowess to over 150 estates since the 1960s.
And since 1996, Darsonville has been in pursuit of the perfect Champagne glass. In that year, he created his own mouth-blown glass bowl. Each detail—from its curvature to the sandblasted bottom to the “golden ratio” pour—conformed to his idea of perfection.
But a perfect bowl needed a perfect long, delicate stem, which Raphaél Bérêche contributed decades later.
And so The Darsonville glass was born. It features a weightless bowl (as was first mouth-blown in 1996) that seamlessly tapers into an elongated, hand-pulled stem.
A further distinction is Darsonville’s sandblasting technique at the bottom of the glass, which delivers an incredibly refined bead of bubbles while preserving Champagne’s purest, most expressive aromas.
You've never experienced a Champagne stem quite like The Darsonville. And so we would urge to experience this remarkable glass for yourself.
It can only be purchased as set of six, in the beautiful display case pictured above. Included in the box is a booklet that explains how to use and care for this extraordinary glass.
New discoveries, rare bottles of extraordinary provenance, limited time offers delivered to your inbox weekly. Be the first to know.
